Can I just be completely honest here for a minute? This blog is a LONG time coming. God has been dealing with me on the issue of writing for Him for years now. I came up with excuse after excuse as to why I needed to keep waiting… and thinking… and mulling over this “writing thing.” First it was, “I’m not tech-savvy enough for setting up a blog”, then “I don’t have time right now”, then (I finally started to get honest) “I don’t know what people will think or say.”
But isn’t God so good! He kept on pursuing me even when I kept on straying. Yesterday, God put in my path the sweetest messenger to remind me of His truths in the realm of obedience to Him. Can I just say, she spoke into my life truth in love. How amazing is it that God can use a total stranger to give a message that is so specific that we wonder how they knew what we needed to hear! Let me just tell you…it’s God. These experiences show us that God’s wisdom and outreach stretches beyond what our feeble, self-centered minds can comprehend.
This precious woman of God shared with me the beauty of obedience and the responsibility of obedience. She reminded me that being called out by God to do something is a gift given to us to make a difference for His Kingdom and that we may not immediately see the results of His calling but He will, without a doubt, use it for His glory. Our conversation also turned to the truth that if we choose not to obey, God’s purposes will come to pass whether it is through us…or not. Now that’s a heavy concept. Our decision to obey comes down to the very personal question: do I want to be used by God or not?
(Deep breath) So here I am. Plunging into this task in obedience. Trusting that as I take a step, God will guide. So let me encourage you as my unexpected, God-sent friend encouraged me…choose to be used by God. He has created no one else like you. He has placed inside you potential that He wants to use in a unique way for His Kingdom. Grow where you’re planted. You won’t regret it.
